Ready to get started with Pilates?  Here’s what you need to know:

Pilates is a low impact, mind-body method of exercise focused on building core strength, improving balance and stability and increasing flexibility and coordination.

Most of the classes we offer are equipment-based Pilates, which is performed on a specialized piece of equipment called a Reformer.  If you’ve never done Pilates, we offer a free ½ hour demonstration to check it out.

When you are ready to pursue Pilates further, we offer a 3-session introductory package.  These private sessions, about an hour in length, are designed to introduce you to:

  • the basic principles of Pilates
  • important anatomical and physiological references and landmarks
  • proper posture and alignment
  • basic or essential exercises and correct movement sequences, including any modifications that may be appropriate for the individual
  • equipment set up, cueing, pace and flow of movement before joining a class.

If you’ve previously participated in equipment-based Pilates classes, we can discuss options for a reduced introductory package.

While attendance in mat classes does not necessarily require the full introductory package, it’s a great way to get one-on-one instruction at a really great price!

Pilates is a great complement to cardiovascular exercise and other strength or athletic training programs, and is an excellent choice of exercise for all fitness levels, from those just getting started or looking for something different, to the more serious fitness enthusiast!
